Day 5 - Journey's Reached The Halfway Stage

Post by [M] Johnson's Secretary on Sun Apr 07, 2013 6:20 pm

It's Day Five (almost). Have fun guys! Oh, here's a riddle for you two. I know you're struggling at this stage.

"A mirror, if unpolished, does not reflect your visage very well. The majority of mirrors are like this. These dulled mirrors fear the night.

A mirror, however, shining true and brilliant, reflects all. Not many mirrors achieve this level of veneer. During the night, these mirrors manage to stay right and true in the face of visitation from the moon's light. Those who gaze upon these mirrors do so at their own peril."

Well done Mafia! Will Smith hanged. Your night action actually payed off! Shame he's a simple vanilla townie though...

But don't lose heart! Arnold, you seem to be flying under the radar, and while Stallone has increased attention of late, I don't think you two will be lynched just yet.

Good luck!

I'm really busy right now, so I can't keep up with the mafia thread, but if something happens and my absence is becoming a danger, say so in here, because I can keep up with this more easily.

It appears to be some way for them to get some of the suspicious characters to make a role claim. So far Vin Diesal is getting the lead vote to go first in this little popcorn game Nic Cage is setting up. I want to see how it goes.

I'll try to fill you in when more comes in by the thread. The way it's going, it shouldn't be that tough.

Gosh, that old Saint Nic is getting annoying isn't he? As Dwayne's personal secretary after his death, I must confess using my downtime in the office to repeatedly stab his visage with my pen.

I had to write in a "random performance review" after that.

This game he's playing is rather pretty stupid, that I will say.

Ms. Secretary (Formy), have you figured out who I am already? I might reveal it eventually, unless you want it to be kept a secret and reveal if I get killed. Razz

Personally I think the roleclaim thing is stupid on their parts. The biggest advantage the townies have (other than numbers) (oh and Laddy's stacking the game in their favor) is that the mafia lack knowledge. This is exemplified by Johnson's tragic (and utterly stupid) death. If we can pull off the claim (yours will be easier than mine, fortunately...you came late, you're vanilla, etc.) then we have an advantage in knowing what everyone is.

Oh I know. I wept for hours, mainly because after this gig is up, I'm employer-less. There's nothing worse than a secretary without an employer!

Employer's dead, time for a career change. You should go into graphic/interior design.

Ha! I think I got them off your ass for now Stallone, by playing up the "meta-gaming's bad" aspect. It might end up putting more pressure on me, but overall less on us as a whole. We either both survive or neither of us survive. If you died, there's no way I'd be able to work them down to a single town. No way in hell.

The secretary has a question: what is "meta-gaming"?

Using knowledge outside the parameters of the game to make in-game decisions. For example, if you knew how Trollhunter played mafia from seeing him play the same thing in past games, and you found out who Trollhunter was in this game, you could use that outside knowledge to make decisions.

In our case, the meta-gaming element is making assumptions based on when people came into the game.

Meh. In my opinion, this sort of meta-gaming can lead to falsehoods and inaccurate assumptions. Were Dwayne still alive, he'd rock bottom everyone and tell them all just to get on with it.

The metagaming is stupid and I hate that it's what is driving the discussion. Vin in particualr should know better.

The massclaim discussion was amusing though, in that it was a huge waste of time. Meanwhile, the mafia just sat pretty while the town discussed the finer details of massclaiming. lol

Thank you! Someone agrees that the massclaim discussion is useless. I'm not against massclaiming (if needed) but if you're going to massclaim, bloody go well and do so. They've spent like the majority of the day discussing massclaiming, while not actually doing so.

Everything is going nicely. We should be pretty safe as long as Samuel doesn't start suspecting us as scum.
